How do you do Automation SEO?

In order to automate your SEO processes, you firstly need to identify the parts of your SEO efforts that take the most time. A lot of the time, it is the research and investigative tasks that can be the most time consuming and require some level of automation.

There are a number of automated tools that speed up a lot of the key processes involved in SEO strategies, including a number of free and paid SEO tools that can save time – tools such as Ahrefs and Semrush are great for automating your competitor and website auditing processes. However, you need to be careful of the prices that come with SEO software and be sure to know what you need to automate before making the investment.

What elements of SEO can be automated?

There are a number of SEO elements that can be automated in order to make your life easier. An important part of any campaign is the SEO strategy there is a lot of planning and research that goes into this.

Some of the key elements that can be automated include:

  • Competitor analysis
  • Site audits
  • SERP analysis
  • Technical SEO analysis
  • Backlink analysis
  • Social media

There are a number of SEO tools that can help automate these processes and save you a lot of time in the long run when it comes to your research.

What are the best SEO automation tools available?

There are a number of great SEO automation tools that can help make your processes more efficient. Some of the best tools that I recommend include:

Ahrefs

Ahrefs is a tool that I rely on massively in terms of my own automation processes. Some of the key tasks which can be automated within Ahrefs include:

  • Backlink analysis
  • Site audits
  • Competitor analysis
  • Keyword research
  • Content research

Ahrefs provides significantly more keyword data than most other paid SEO tools. The only downside is the expensive monthly cost for all of the data which starts from around $170. However, this is a tool I highly recommend if you are looking to automate your SEO research efforts.

Semrush

Semrush is another great tool that is similar to Ahrefs in terms of what you can automate. It also provides a very us4eful social media planning tool that allows you to connect your social media accounts and automate your social media posts.

Screaming Frog

Screaming Frog is an essential tool for SEO professionals. It enables its users to carry out extensive site audits and really get under the hood of a website. It is a great way to automate your site audit processes and is fairly affordable across the year.

Keyword.com

Keyword.com is another tool I highly recommend. It allows users to track live keyword data and monitor ranking changes and fluctuations. Again, this tool is not too costly and provides an easy to understand interface to keep on top of ranking changes.

Google Data Studio

Google Data Studio is a free tool provided by Google that allows users to automate SEO reporting. You can connect your Google properties and import a lot of useful information that can be turned into a digestible report. Google provides a number of report templates and is an essential component of a successful SEO campaign.

Google Search Console

Google search console pulls in the number of clicks and impressions that your website gets depending on where it appears in the search results. GSC enables you to automate a lot of your investigative processes and allows you to monitor the impact of your SEO changes.

It is important to remember that you should only look to automate a process once you know it is more inefficient to carry it out manually. Whilst some of these tools are free, a lot of other tools can be expensive to run so it’s essential you are maximising what you can out of each and every one.

Can SEO be fully automated?

There are certainly ways to automate your SEO efforts but it can’t really ever be “fully automated”. Whilst there are definitely ways you can automate your research and investigative processes, in terms of actually implementing the findings, this requires some manual intervention. Especially if you are just getting started out, there is no better way to learn SEO than actually going in and implementing your SEO tactics. Your SEO automation tools should work hand in hand with your physical work.

Conclusion

To conclude, there are certainly ways in which you can automate your SEO work and whilst it’s impossible to fully automate every part of SEO, you can certainly save a lot of time by automating the inefficient parts of SEO.

I recommend learning about the tools I have mentioned above and if you are a newcomer in the SEO world, go out there and gain experience to really know where needs automating and where may need some manual input.

Generally, if you are able to automate your reporting and research, this will save considerable time and will give you more time to implement the real work that is going to bring in positive changes for your website.
